FAQ

Questions people actually ask.

What is Jambu?

Jambu is an offline, local-first voice assistant that's been given a body — a small mobile robot that listens for spoken commands and can move around in response, with no cloud service involved.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. Speech transcription, intent understanding, and motion planning all run locally on the robot's own hardware. It works the same with Wi-Fi on or off.

Is Jambu open source?

The project is being built and documented in the open through this dev journey log. Reach out through the contact form if you'd like to know more about the code.

Can I buy a Jambu?

Not yet — Jambu is currently a personal build, not a product. If that changes, the contact form is the best way to hear about it first.

What is Jambu Assist?

Jambu Assist is a separate, upcoming mobile app (iOS and Android) that brings the same simple, ask-and-it-happens approach to everyday tasks — a companion product to the physical robot, not a requirement for using it.
